About Me

A long-time golfer trying to improve his game, share his story and hopefully help some others out there

Mountain Golf

I'm a golfer, but I'm no pro. I love the game and would play every day if I could. The only problem is I live in Canada… So, while I wait for my local courses to open, I’m starting this blog as I kick back and watch Happy Gilmore (my annual tradition at the start of the season).

I’m writing this blog to lay things out for myself, track my progress for the year and apply some of the popular ideas in golf to my game while letting you all know how it all works out. And, as a bonus, I thought that maybe - just maybe - if it works for me it could work for you, too.

I started golfing when I was 13. My dad bought me my first set of clubs for my birthday and whenever I was at his place for the weekend we were out on the course. For my next birthday, he got me a membership at a course close to home so I could get more practice with my friends.

The next summer I got my first job working at a local mini-golf and the following year I graduated to working at a full-fledged golf course and abused the hell out of my golfing privileges. Over the years since then, with a break during some of my college years, I continued to work in the golf industry for 11 years. And, after looking back at all of this laid out, it's really amazing that I’m not a better golfer.

Again, I'm not promising instant success for any of us, we're all in this together. But if you happen to see a bit of yourself in my story, maybe this blog just might help you out.

I’m not a bad golfer - most people see my overall swing and then call me a sandbagger after learning my index - but a few things are holding me back…
